Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
